A definition of anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, these feelings can be mild or severe.

At some point in our lives, everyone will have suffered some sort of anxiety (eg) on the run up to an exam, preparing for a job interview or waiting for results. To a degree anxiety on these occasions can feel fairly ‘normal’. However, for some it can seem like an uphill battle to control their feelings when it come to their worries and it can really affect their day to day life, their relationships and their work.  Untreated, anxiety can lead to depression.

Anxiety can also cause physical symptoms such as:

  • Dizziness
  • Heart palpitations
  • Sweating
  • Shaking
  • Nausea
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Stomach pains and issues
  • Tiredness

Psychological symptoms are:

  • Irritability
  • Trouble concentrating on a task
  • Edginess
  • Feelings of fear
